Grade 7 calculates with decimal fractions — adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing them, converting between fractions, decimals and percentages, and rounding off. In the Department of Basic Education’s teaching plan, Grade 7 decimals are taught in Term 1. It comes up in the Grade 7 maths Term 1 test, and again in the final Term 4 exam, which covers all four terms.
Every answer is marked as you go, with the working shown, so a wrong answer teaches something instead of only costing a mark. Thinking 0,25 is bigger than 0,7 because 25 is bigger than 7, and multiplying by 10 by “adding a zero”, so that 2,5 × 10 becomes 2,50 instead of 25.
