Why MeerkatSkool

I built it for my own children first

I built MeerkatSkool for my own children first. I wanted them to be able to practise for tests without paging through books or waiting for someone to make up questions for them.

Children learn differently today. They want to do something, not just read: answer a question, see straight away whether it’s right, and understand why. It’s a new era for how children learn and get engaged, and I wanted it to work in English and Afrikaans, following CAPS.

Once it worked in our house, I realised it could help every child. That’s how MeerkatSkool grew. Our goal is simple: we want every child to do well.

Learn from every mistake

Every answer comes with a short explanation. Your child sees straight away why something is right or wrong, without you having to sit next to them.

Practice that feels like a game

Rounds of 10 questions, stars, confetti and a cheering meerkat. Short enough to concentrate, fun enough to want one more.

Grow step by step

English and Afrikaans have 5 levels per topic, from easy to challenging. Or test yourself with 10, 25 or 50 mixed questions.

Every subject, following CAPS

Maths, languages, Natural Sciences, History, Geography, Life Skills and more, for Grades 4 to 7, in English and Afrikaans.

The stars explained

What the stars and ticks mean

At the end of every quiz your child gets stars, and the best result stays on the card. So you can see at a glance what has been practised.

60% or moreOne star. A good start; practise again.
80% or moreTwo stars, with confetti.
100%Three stars: everything right!
✓
FinishedThe quiz is done. The stars next to it are the best result so far.
Busy
Started, not finishedYour child started here but hasn’t finished yet.
3, 5 and 10 in a rowThe meerkat cheers at 3 right in a row. At 5 and 10 there’s confetti.

Stars are always about the percentage. It doesn’t matter whether the quiz has 10, 25 or 50 questions.

This is how it looks

Every topic shows the best stars your child has earned.

Tip: ask your child to show you the page. The stars tell you what has been practised, and where a bit more practice would help.
Private and simple

Where are the stars kept?

Only on your device

The stars stay in the browser on this phone, tablet or computer. Nothing is stored online, and we never ask for your child’s name.

One device, one set of stars

On another phone or in another browser the stars start again.

Don’t clear the browser’s data

If you clear the browser’s history and site data, the stars go too. Normal use doesn’t touch them.

Start today
