Grade 6 counts, orders and compares decimals to two places, adds and subtracts them, multiplies by 10 and 100, and links fractions, decimals and percentages. In the Department of Basic Education’s teaching plan, Grade 6 decimals are taught in Term 3. It is tested in the Grade 6 maths Term 3 test and the final Term 4 exam.
Every answer is marked as you go, with the working shown, so a wrong answer teaches something instead of only costing a mark. Thinking 0,25 is bigger than 0,7 because 25 is bigger than 7, and multiplying by 10 by “adding a zero”, so that 2,5 × 10 becomes 2,50 instead of 25.
